In recent days, a number of celebrity books have announced scheduled publication dates. Books written by celebrities have typically been big sellers for publishers, but the field is getting more crowded as more celebrities find out just how lucrative writing celebrity books can be. Here are some of the celebrity books that are scheduled for release in the near future.
Humble and Kind – Tim McGraw
Hachette Books has announced that Tim McGraw will have his book Humble and Kind released on May 17. The book is based on the country star’s hit single of the same name, which was inspired by his daughter’s leaving for college. The bound edition of “Humble and Kind” will feature the lyrics of the song, illustrations and an introduction by McGraw. The star is reportedly donating the proceeds from the book to charity.
The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo – Amy Schumer
Amy Schumer’s new book, titled The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo, has been scheduled for publication Aug. 16. According to an announcement from publisher Gallery Books, the book will “feature personal and observational stories from Schumer that range from the raunchy to the romantic, the heartfelt to the harrowing.” Schumer signed the book deal last September for a reported $8 million to $10 million.
Leaving a Mark – Dorian Murray / Nicole DeRosa Cannella
Dorian Murray, an 8-year-old cancer patient, wanted one thing: “to be famous,” as he told his dad. The brave fighter got his wish. The Rhode Island boy wrote Leaving a Mark, a children’s book offering words of wisdom and hope to children with cancer, with Boston-area author Nicole DeRosa Cannella. Cannella learned of Dorian’s story online after it went viral, trending with the Facebook tag #DStrong.
Days before losing his battle with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, Dorian was given a digital copy of the finished book, illustrated free of charge by Veggietales story artist Tim Hodge. Oregon-based Lampion Press will have physical copies of the book available next month on its website and all sales proceeds will go to the newly-established Dorian J. Murray Foundation and other pediatric cancer research organizations.
