Nick Gordon, the boyfriend of the late Bobbi Kristina Brown, has claimed that the results of her autopsy show that he was not responsible for her death. The autopsy report was unsealed on Friday, eight months after her tragic demise and on what would have been her 23rd birthday. Gordon found her unconscious in her bathtub at their US home in Roswell, Georgia on January 21, 2015. She spent months in the hospital, a rehabilitation center and hospice care until she died on July 26.
Bobbi Kristina Brown, daughter of Bobby Brown and late singer Whitney Houston, reportedly died due to a combination of drugs and drowning. Previously, officials said her autopsy showed “no significant injuries” at the time of her “non-natural death,” but a court order kept the information sealed. In the full autopsy release, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office revealed that marijuana, alcohol, “a cocaine-related substance,” sedative and anti-anxiety medications and morphine were involved in the death.
A source close to Gordon suggests the findings contradict claims in a wrongful death suit brought against him by Brown’s family. In the lawsuit, the family claimed that Bobbi Kristina “died due to a violent altercation” with Gordon and that he “injected her with a toxic mixture.” Gordon has repeatedly denied the allegations. The source told People Magazine, “Sadly, Bobbi Kristina used drugs for a long time, and she drowned in her bathtub. It’s a tragedy, but Nick didn’t kill her.”
Gordon was raised as Houston’s son, but was never officially adopted. He grew close to Bobbi Kristina as they grew up together and they began dating as she reached adulthood. According to the source, “He has not gotten to mourn her loss like he wanted to, because he’s been too busy defending himself from the claims that he killed her. He misses Bobbi Kristina, and he is still dealing with that.”
The Brown family members view the medical examiner’s report in a different light. Father Bobby Brown expressed dismay, saying, “For news affiliates to seek and obtain my daughter’s autopsy report, before anyone has been brought to justice for her death is mind blowing to me. Please pray for my family.” Bobby Brown’s lawyer, Christopher Brown, said in a statement, “While this action is unsettling, we will continue in our efforts in the civil lawsuit and the criminal investigation.”
